Fascination E MEB – Three letters for affordable e-mobility
E-mobility is set to become accessible for even more people: Volkswagen is demonstrating how this can be achieved at the IAA MOBILITY with the ID. LIFE study. The technology behind the car includes the Modular Electric Drive Matrix – MEB for short.
The MEB is the technical and economic spine of Volkswagen electric offensive. Specifically developed for electric drivetrains, the vehicle architecture provides high ranges, lots of space in the interior, and impressive performance. The MEB is already used in cars like the compact ID.3 and the ID.4 electric SUV.

A smaller variant of the MEB, intended specifically for the compact car segment, has been developed for the ID.LIFE. This is the first time that an MEB model has been equipped with front-wheel drive. The 57-kWh high-voltage battery allows a range of roughly 400 kilometres (WLTP).
We are only just starting to exploit the potential of the MEB. Performance, charging capacity and range will continue to improve with software updates and every new model.
