If your Volkswagen is equipped with the Keyless Access wireless technology, you can leave the key in your swim bag. The car will recognise it from up to 1.5 metres and unlock the door as soon as you touch the handle. Simply get in, push the button to start the engine, and off you go to your next destination. In many models, a simple foot movement is all that is required to open the boot with the “Easy Open” system – practical when you have both hands full.
Comfort and Assistance Systems
Drive relaxed –
even on holiday

Going on holiday can sometimes be tiring. The many comfort and assistance systems in the latest Volkswagen models help to make the most beautiful time of the year far more relaxed. We explain how the systems work and how these life hacks can make days off even better.
Hands full? With Keyless Access, the car can be quickly unlocked
Help with driving: Travel Assist

For the latest models in the all-electric ID. family, which leave the factory with the ID. Software 3.0 on board, Volkswagen offers the option of Travel Assist with Swarm Data*, which actively keeps the car in the middle of the lane. In doing so, it adapts to the driving style and can drive either further to the left or further to the right in its own lane. The system has predictive cruise control and cornering assistance. The vehicle speed can be adapted to the relevant speed limits and road layouts (bends, roundabouts etc.).

Talk to your car: “Hello ID.”
Language barriers when holidaying abroad? Not with your own Volkswagen – the voice control always reacts to questions and commands from the driver, wherever it is. In the ID. models, it is activated with the command “Hallo ID.”. With a natural-language character, the system understands free wordings and questions. When necessary, it asks questions and will even interrupt sometimes.
In many Volkswagen models, the voice control performs an online comparison. This improves the rate of recognition and quality of result, even when searching for points of interest. Voice control is available
in all ID. models on the German market, provided you have a navigation system and the We Connect Plus service is activated.

Energy-saving driving: the Eco Assistant in the all-electric ID. models
A day trip into the hills of Tuscany? Or a winding coastal route in Norway? The Volkswagen ID. models can be driven in a predictive and energy-saving manner everywhere, because the Eco Assistant comes as standard.
Linking car and smartphone: We Connect.
Where exactly is my car in this huge car park at the beach? Did I lock the doors? Where is the next charging or filling station? And where might there be a longer traffic jam.
We Connect helps! The app connects the car to the user’s smartphone. Depending on the model and features, different services are available. We Connect Plus also includes helpful real-time traffic information for navigation purposes, as well as online voice control, which answers questions using the accumulated knowledge of the Cloud. In the ID. models, We Connect also makes it possible to charge and air-condition the car remotely.

Keep your distance: ACC
Travel Assist comes with Active Cruise Control (ACC). In many models, ACC is also available separately, and comes as standard in the top-of-the-range models. When behind another car, the system maintains the distance defined by the drive.
In some of the latest Volkswagen models, ACC is predictive: it uses signals from the front camera and route data to integrate speed limits, the edges of built-up areas, junctions and roundabouts, which can be particularly helpful on unfamiliar roads whilst on holiday.
Fusion of display and reality: the augmented reality head-up display
In the ID. models from the ID.3 to the ID.5, Volkswagen offers the optional augmented reality head-up display, which makes orientation even easier on all roads. It projects navigation symbols and information from some assistance systems onto a large area on the window. The display is dynamic: when the car is approaching a junction, the arrows indicate the direction to take, increasing in size but at the same time transparent, so they don’t impair visibility.

Intuitive displays: ID. Light
Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. models have ID. Light on board. The narrow strip of light under the windscreen is particularly helpful to the driver when they are somewhere unfamiliar. It uses striking lighting effects in the driver’s peripheral field of vision to make them aware of many situations, such as before turning or when receiving information from the Eco Assistant.
In the models with ID.3 Software 3.0, ID. Light offers new functions. One of these is the local hazard warning, which informs the driver of vehicles that have broken down, crashes and emergency vehicles, among other things. Another function, when the navigation system is active, indicates in good time that it is necessary to switch lane before exiting the motorway.
And now? Holiday time! Have a relaxing trip.
*The driving assistance function can only be used within the limits of the system. The driver must be prepared to override the assistance system at any time, and is not absolved of their responsibility to drive the vehicle carefully. The system can be deactivated at any time. The system can be used up to the vehicle’s maximum speed. Only in conjunction with a navigation system. Only in conjunction with an active We Connect licence. The online components of the “Travel Assist with Swarm Data” can only be used where there is mobile phone network coverage and with the necessary privacy settings. The online component can be deactivated at any time in the We Connect ID.
