he men’s European football championship kicks off on 11th June. Teams, fans and media from around the world will travel to this major event. But how will the large numbers of people get to the stadium or hotel? And above all: Is there a sustainable option? In episode 4, Alina and Vincenzo discuss this with Stephan Franssen, who is responsible for the UEFA sponsoring at Volkswagen, and Nico Briskorn, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at VfL Wolfsburg. The experts
As mobility partner of the Euros, we want to set trends for sustainable, safe, efficient and comfortable mobility. Together with UEFA, we are developing various activities, such as the mobility area in the UEFA app.
Stephan Franssen has been at the Volkswagen Group since 2003. His previous roles include Head of Motorsport Marketing & Driving Experience. At SEAT in Spain he held an executive role in product marketing from 2011 to 2013. Franssen studied at the EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht in Wiesbaden (EBS university for economics and law). Stephan Franssen is heavily involved in the sustainability measures for the Euros.
Sustainability and environmental protection are systematically embedded in our DNA. We have been active in the area of CSR for more than ten years now, for example, in areas such as a sustainable supply chain, catering or human rights and child protection.
Nico Briskorn has been a sustainability expert at VfL Wolfsburg for more than 10 years now. Under his leadership, VfL Wolfsburg became the first football club in the world to publish a GRI-certified sustainability report in 2012. The topics covered range from climate protection through diversity management to child protection and human rights. His team is made up of five employees. Briskorn graduated in 2004, with a degree in sports science.
